2017 Chicago Architecture Biennial For this project Most Visual was responsible to create promotional and documentation videos for the 2017 Chicago Architecture Biennial. This project bridged our passion for architecture and design with our documentary and studio-style production.
Biennial featured over 140 practitioners from more than 20 countries, addressing the 2017 theme “Make New History.”
Artistic Directors Sharon Johnston and Mark Lee discuss the theme of the 2017 Chicago Architecture Biennial, Make New History. Joined by biennial participants Reto Geiser, Jorge Otero-Pailos, Marshall Brown, and Allison Newmeyer, they examine the role that history plays in the making of architecture.
The Chicago Architecture Biennial created environments for conversation about architecture, drawing you in by engaging the senses and telling the stories behind the buildings.
One major feature of Make New History is “Vertical City,” a contemporary exploration of the 1922 Chicago Tribune Tower competition at a monumental scale in the Cultural Center’s Yates Hall. Sixteen young architecture firms from around the world have been invited to reimagine the landmark structure, which was famously revisited in a group exhibition organized by Stanley Tigerman in 1980, and produce new vertical visions that address the pressing issues of the twenty-first century.
